CBD FAQ

What is CBD?
Cannabidiol, also most commonly referred to as CBD, is a chemical compound found in both cannabis and hemp plants. CBD is much more prevalent in hemp rather than cannabis. Hemp is usually filled with large amounts of CBD while on the other hand cannabis is full of a different chemical compound, THC. What makes CBD different from THC is that its non- intoxicating, meaning that it doesn't give off a high. CBD can be taken in a variety of ways such as edibles, oils, and topicals.

What are cannabinoids?
Cannabinoids are compounds produced by all cannabis plants. Cannabinoids found in plants are technically called phytocannabinoids, while cannabinoids produced inside of the human body are called endocannabinoids. Cannabinoids interact with the body's endocannabinoid system or ECS, which helps promote homeostasis. To learn more about the endocannabinoid system click here.

Another major difference is that hemp does not create a "high" feeling.
Marijuana plants, on the other hand, tend to be very short and are grown for their flowers. The THC content is significantly higher and these plants tend to be used recreationally in states that allow it. It is also used medically if recommended by a doctor. Because of the restrictions around marijuana, growing, selling and buying is illegal in many states.
